It is a bright idea to be prepared and get ahead but you should not overspend on a system that might not yet work for your business. It can have a drawback to your financial stability. Make certain that the cost of installation is a worthy investment otherwise; the fixed assets cost will get high and it will take a few years before this investment will be beneficial to your business. It is also important to make sure that you have the required space where pallet racks will be installed. Do not commit the mistake of having a new building constructed merely for the purpose of this. There are times that a little organizing in the warehouse is one way of having an additional space. You have a wide array of options to choose from when you want to free up space in a room. You can have a vertical expansion by installing shelves. Re-arranging working tables and chairs is another way as well as making use of mobile cabinets that can be placed under the tables can also free up space. Consider if the working environment can still give way to logistics activities. Remember that forklifts and other equipment used for loading and unloading of goods is being used. Determine if upon installation of a pallet rack system, enough space is still available for the said equipment to be operated inside the warehouse and it will not affect the way your warehouse personnel work.
Racking is indeed a good investment if it can be fully utilized at the onset and if only it is compatible with your overall warehousing system.
