Sorry, Mel, but the main idea I have for wood pallets is: keep them out of your home. Wood pallets often have a toxic cocktail of pesticides and fungicides on them. Plus, they pick up all sorts of nasty stuff in their travels that seeps into the wood and doesn’t come out. Some of the wood pallets in the projects pictured look like they have been to some very funky places. Those big dark spots could be something you don’t really want to know about or come into contact with.
The designs may be cute, but is having contaminated wood pallets in your home worth it? Do you really want to breathe in off-gassed formaldehyde (a carcinogen) and who knows what else? Or get it on your body or clothes? Wood pallets for home projects? Not a good idea.
