MAKE | How-To: Vertical Pallet Garden

 I wouldn’t do this with food crops.  Most pallets treated to prevent fungal decay and insect damage with methyl bromide or tribromophenol.    Neither are good for you.   Tribromophenol can also break down into a compound called TBA.   It’s nasty smelling and will taint the vegetables.

Some pallets are heat treated and stamped with HT.   Those might be ok, but they may also contain chemicals.
