Pallet Tables - The Back Porch BBQ

Upon reading the Fayette County Record (local paper) over the weekend, I came across an ad for $2 pallets in good condition.  Well, that's cheap.  After our exciting realization that we can use old interior doors for tables, I've been trying to come up with something to use outdoors.  One idea is to use cable spools but those have been hard to find.  Last week the idea of pallet tables came up.  It almost felt "meant to be" when I saw the ad.  So, we bit.

Derrick met up with the old timer out in the country to buy some pallets (he has over 300).  Derrick paid the big bucks for about 5 different types of pallets to determine which would be best for our tables. The guy selling them to him did not seem impressed with the table DIY project we had in store (probably because he had repaired the pallets).  Nevertheless, Derrick came home and set up shop.  So, after opening a beer and grabbing a hammer, he began destruction/construction.

After repairing a wobbly leg, we are happy with the end product.  All that is left is to sand and seal the table.  We have a few ideas for the next ones to make it a little easier.  I see a table making Saturday in our near future.  We think they'll add charm and character to the Back Porch.
